- They work closely with various departments, including manufacturing, procurement, and logistics, to optimise production processes and meet customer demands.
- The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Key tasks
- Coordinate with sales, marketing and engineering teams to understand customer demands and incorporate them into production plans.
- Analyse production capacity, resource availability, and lead times to determine optimal production schedules.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components needed for production.
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as necessary to meet changing demands or resolve production issues.
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks, constraints, and inefficiencies in production processes to improve overall productivity.
- Ensure accurate documentation of production plans, including bills of materials, production orders, and work instructions.
- Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production planning, such as on-time delivery, inventory turnover, and production cycle times.
- Collaborate with logistics team to coordinate transportation and delivery schedules to meet customer requirements.
- Continuously evaluate and implement process improvements to optimise production planning and increase operational efficiency.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to production planning.
Skills and experience
- Excellent knowledge of production planning and quality control principles.
- Previous experience of working as a Planner in a high volume production/manufacturing environment.
- Strong skills and experience using Microsoft applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to problem solve and trouble shoot independently.
- Has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and is able to quickly adapt to any schedule changes required to meet customer demands.
- Effective communication both verbal and written and interpersonal skills.
- Accuracy with attention to details.
- Experience of using MES and ERP systems
